UNED 2026 Full Professor Access Competition: Positions and €40 Fee

The Resolution of July 22, 2026, published in the BOE of July 30, 2026, activates the process with a 20 business day deadline and well-defined requirements. Those who do not act within the deadline lose the opportunity to compete in this call.

What does this regulation establish?

UNED calls an access competition for positions in the Full Professors of University body, the highest level of the university civil service teaching career in Spain. The process is governed by two reference standards:

• LOSU (Organic Law of the University System)
• Royal Decree 678/2023, which regulates access competitions for university teaching positions

Additionally, the call is framed within the new UNED Statutes approved in March 2026 and the UNED Access Competition Regulation of that same year, which means that the process follows a completely updated regulatory framework compared to previous calls.

Applications are submitted exclusively electronically through UNED's electronic office. Paper submission or in-person registration is not accepted.

Requirements to participate

Exemptions from the 40 euro fee

The following candidates are exempt from paying the fee if they accredit any of the following situations:

• Recognized disability
• Unemployment status
• Status as a member of a large family
• Status as a victim of terrorism
• Status as a victim of gender-based violence

Economic and operational impact

The direct cost of participating in this competition is minimal: 40 euros fee, with the possibility of total exemption for the mentioned groups. The real economic impact is not in the fee, but in the consequences of promotion: accessing the Full Professor body means a significant salary increase compared to the Associate Professor body, both in base salary and in position and specific supplements.

From an operational perspective, the process requires having a digital certificate or Cl@ve to operate in UNED's electronic office, and having prepared the documentation proving the requirements (ANECA accreditation, certificate of services rendered, and where applicable, documentation for fee exemption) before the 20 business day deadline expires.

The renewed regulatory framework—UNED Statutes of March 2026 and new Competition Regulation—may introduce procedural changes compared to previous calls. It is recommended to read the full text of the resolution before starting the application.

Who does it affect?

• Associate Professors of University who are career civil servants with at least two years of effective service and have ANECA accreditation for Full Professor.
• Permanent Labor Professors accredited by ANECA who meet the requirements established in LOSU and RD 678/2023.
• UNED departments and centers that have requested the filling of these positions and must participate in the constitution of the evaluation committees.
• University human resources managers who must process applications and verify candidate documentation.

Practical example

An Associate Professor of University at UNED who obtained their ANECA accreditation for Full Professor in 2024 and has been a career civil servant in that body for four years meets all the requirements to apply:

1. Accesses UNED's electronic office with their digital certificate.
2. Completes the application form and attaches their ANECA accreditation and certificate of services rendered.
3. Pays the 40 euro fee through the enabled electronic payment system.
4. Submits the application within the 20 business days counted from July 30, 2026.

If that same professor were unemployed or had a recognized disability, they would be exempt from paying the 40 euros and would only need to accredit that circumstance along with the rest of the documentation.

What should candidates do now?

1. Verify ANECA accreditation: Confirm that accreditation for the Full Professor of University body is current and in force before starting the application.
2. Check seniority: Accredit a minimum of two years of effective service as a career civil servant in the Associate Professor of University body.
3. Calculate the exact deadline: Count 20 business days from July 30, 2026 to determine the submission deadline, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and national and local holidays.
4. Prepare documentation: Gather ANECA accreditation, certificate of services rendered and, where applicable, documentation to request fee exemption (disability, unemployment, large family, victim of terrorism or gender-based violence).
5. Access UNED's electronic office: Verify that the digital certificate or Cl@ve is operational to complete electronic submission without last-minute issues.
