VET centers dependent on the Ministry of Education have from June 28, 2026 a new optional module available for their higher construction cycles. The Resolution of June 18, 2026 from the General Secretariat of Vocational Training incorporates into the official repertoire the module «In-depth study of the industrialized construction process in housing» (code 1885), with a load of 80 hours and 8 ECTS credits.
The initiative stems from a proposal by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda, and responds to the growing industrialization of the construction sector: plant prefabrication, logistics of large components, on-site assembly and circular economy criteria are already operational realities in many companies in the sector that did not find reflection in the regulated training offer.
What does this regulation establish?
The resolution adds module 1885 to the repertoire of optional professional modules of vocational training for the scope of management of the Ministry. This means that authorized centers can offer it, but are not required to do so: it is optional in character for both the center and the student.
The module is specifically aimed at two higher-level vocational training cycles:
- Higher Technician in Organization and Control of Construction Works
- Higher Technician in Building Projects
The contents covered by the module are as follows:
- Planning with BIM methodology (Building Information Modelling)
- Plant production of industrialized components
- Logistics of large construction components
- On-site assembly of industrialized systems
- Maintenance with circular economy criteria
To teach it, centers must have teachers from one of these two specialties:
| Code | Teaching specialty |
|---|---|
| 104 | Civil Construction and Building |
| 212 | Construction Project Office |
Economic and operational impact
For educational centers, the immediate impact is curricular and planning-related: they must assess whether they have teachers with specialty 104 or 212 and whether they have hourly capacity to incorporate the module into the next course's programming.
For companies in the industrialized construction sector, this regulation has a strategic reading: the VET system begins to train technicians with specific competencies in BIM applied to prefabrication, component logistics and industrialized assembly. This expands the pool of qualified candidates for profiles that are difficult to fill today.
For companies that collaborate with VET centers (FCT or Dual VET agreements), this module opens the possibility of designing specific practices in prefabrication plants or in industrialized construction projects, aligning training with their real production needs.
There are no direct costs for private companies derived from this resolution. The economic impact is indirect: greater future availability of technicians trained in industrialized construction.
Who does it affect?
- VET centers of the Ministry of Education in Ceuta, Melilla, Juan de la Cierva center and CIDEAD: can incorporate the module from now on.
- Teachers of specialties 104 and 212: are the only ones authorized to teach this module.
- Students of the higher cycles of Organization and Control of Construction Works and Building Projects in those centers.
- Construction and housing industrialization companies: benefit in the medium term from a greater supply of technicians trained in BIM, prefabrication and circular economy.
- Companies with Dual VET or FCT agreements in the affected centers: can direct practices towards the module's contents.
Practical example
A VET center in Ceuta that teaches the higher cycle of Technician in Building Projects and has a teacher of specialty 212 (Construction Project Office) can incorporate module 1885 in its offer for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Students who take it will obtain 8 additional ECTS credits and specific training in BIM planning, plant production and logistics of industrialized components: competencies directly demanded by companies such as volumetric module manufacturers, industrialized housing builders or architecture firms that work with prefabricated systems.
If that same center has a Dual VET agreement with a local company in the sector, it can design the company phase specifically around the module's contents, aligning practical training with the real processes of industrialized production.
What should centers do now?
- Verify teacher availability: Check if the faculty has teachers of specialty 104 (Civil Construction and Building) or 212 (Construction Project Office). Without this condition, the module cannot be taught.
- Assess demand among students: Consult with students of the affected cycles about their interest in taking the optional module to size groups and plan schedules.
- Include it in the 2026-2027 course programming: If requirements are met, incorporate module 1885 (80 hours) into the training offer for the next course before finalizing the general annual programming.
- Inform collaborating companies: If the center has FCT or Dual VET agreements with construction sector companies, communicate the availability of the module to guide practices towards industrialized construction.
- Consult the complete resolution in the BOE: The Resolution of June 18, 2026 (BOE-A-2026-13993) contains the complete evaluation criteria, learning outcomes and teaching conditions.
Frequently asked questions
Which centers can teach module 1885 on industrialized construction?
Only VET centers directly managed by the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports: those located in Ceuta, Melilla, the Juan de la Cierva center and CIDEAD. Regional centers are not included in this resolution.
How many hours does the module have and what ECTS credits does it equal?
The module «In-depth study of the industrialized construction process in housing» (code 1885) has a duration of 80 hours and equals 8 ECTS credits.
What teaching specialties can teach this module?
Only teachers with specialty 104 (Civil Construction and Building) or specialty 212 (Construction Project Office) are authorized to teach module 1885.
Is this module mandatory for students of the affected cycles?
No. It is an optional module, both for the center (which decides whether to offer it) and for the student (who decides whether to take it). It is integrated into the higher cycles of Technician in Organization and Control of Construction Works and Technician in Building Projects.
When does this resolution take effect?
The resolution was published in the BOE on June 27, 2026 and took effect the following day, June 28, 2026.
