Before acquiring full career civil servant status, each appointee must take an oath to the Constitution. This is a mandatory formal requirement and must be completed within the deadline to take office.

Since this involves a change of residence location, they have the extended period of one month from July 20, 2026—that is, until August 20, 2026—to take office.

Before formalizing the taking of office, they must take an oath to the Constitution. Once this requirement is met, they acquire full career civil servant status in the Corps of Civil Engineers, Canals and Ports of the State, with a Senior Technician position of level 26 and a specific allowance of €13,829.34 annually.

If this same civil servant believes that their assignment is incorrect or that an error has occurred in the appointment, they may file a motion for reconsideration within one month from the BOE publication, or an administrative contentious appeal before the National Court within two months.

What should those affected do now?

1. Verify inclusion in the resolution: Check the full text published in the BOE on July 20, 2026 to confirm that your name appears in the appointment.
2. Identify the applicable deadline: If the assignment is in your same residence location, you have 15 calendar days from July 20. If it involves a change of location, the deadline is one month.
3. Take an oath to the Constitution: This requirement is mandatory and prior to taking office. Coordinate it with the personnel unit of the destination ministry.
4. Formalize taking office within the deadline: Failure to do so in a timely manner may compromise the acquisition of career civil servant status.
5. Evaluate the appeal route if applicable: If there is any error in the appointment or in the assigned destination, file a motion for reconsideration within one month or an administrative contentious appeal before the National Court within two months, both from July 20, 2026.
