Judicial Assistance Positions in the Canary Islands 2026: Destinations, Deadlines and What to Do if You Are Appointed

Those approved in the extraordinary selection process for the Judicial Assistance Corps of the Administration of Justice (convocation Order JUS/1327/2022) who were appointed through the Order PJC/881/2026 of 31 July now have the opportunity to choose a position in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands. The Resolution of 10 September 2026 publishes the vacant positions available in the Canary Islands area and establishes the procedure and deadlines for requesting them.

Failing to act within the deadline or not indicating sufficient preferences has direct consequences: forced assignment in alphabetical order to any of the available positions, without the possibility of resorting to a transfer competition in the following two years.

What does this regulation establish?

The Ministry of Public Administrations, Justice and Security of the Canary Islands publishes, through its General Directorate of Relations with the Administration of Justice, the list of positions in the Judicial Assistance Corps that remained vacant in the extraordinary selection process and are now offered to those approved and appointed by Order PJC/881/2026.

The available positions are distributed among the following municipalities in the Canary Islands:

• Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
• Santa Cruz de Tenerife
• Arrecife (Lanzarote)
• Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura)
• San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Gran Canaria)
• Other municipalities in the Canary Islands archipelago

The rules of the allocation procedure are as follows:

• Only those who expressly appear in the Appointment Order PJC/881/2026 of 31 July may participate.
• Applications must be submitted within a period of 10 business days from publication in the BOE (23/09/2026), either through electronic headquarters or in-person registration.
• The applicant must indicate all positions in order of preference. If you do not request enough or none of the requested ones correspond to you, you will be assigned a forced position in alphabetical order.
• Positions have final character and do not allow participation in transfer competitions for two years.

Economic and operational impact

Although this resolution does not imply direct costs for private companies, it does have a very relevant operational and personal impact for those affected:

• Geographic mobility: The assigned position may involve a transfer to another island or municipality in the archipelago, with the moving costs, accommodation and adaptation that this entails.
• Mobility freeze for two years: Once the final position is assigned, the civil servant cannot compete for other positions during 24 months. This limits the ability to relocate if the assigned position is not the desired one.
• Risk of forced assignment: Not submitting an application or doing so incompletely (without listing enough positions) triggers automatic assignment in alphabetical order, which may result in the least desired of the available positions.
• Final character: Unlike provisional positions, this does not allow ordinary review in the short term.

Who does it affect?

• People approved in the extraordinary selection process for the Judicial Assistance Corps convened by Order JUS/1327/2022, of 28 December, by the competition-opposition system, free competition.
• Exclusively those who appear in the Appointment Order PJC/881/2026 of 31 July.
• Applicants who do not yet have a position assigned in the scope of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.
• Advisors, managers and opposition exam preparers who accompany these candidates in the decision-making process regarding position.

Practical example

Imagine you are approved in the opposition JUS/1327/2022 and appear in Order PJC/881/2026. The resolution is published on 23 September 2026: your deadline to act expires on 7 or 8 October 2026 approximately (10 business days, excluding holidays).

You submit your application indicating as first preference Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, second Santa Cruz de Tenerife and third San Bartolomé de Tirajana. If none of those three correspond to you by order of merit, but there are available positions in Arrecife or Puerto del Rosario that you have not listed, the administration assigns you a forced position in one of them in alphabetical order of surnames.

To avoid this, the recommendation is to list all available positions in the application, ordered by real preference, even if some are less desirable. It is better to indicate a last resort position than to receive a completely random assignment.

What should those affected do now?

1. Verify if you appear in Order PJC/881/2026 of 31 July. Only those appointed in that order can participate. If you do not appear, this resolution does not apply to you.
2. Consult the complete list of positions published in the BOE (BOE-A-2026-19718) to know all available positions in the Canary Islands: municipality, judicial body and number of positions.
3. Prepare the application before the deadline expires (10 business days from 23/09/2026). Calculate the exact expiration date taking into account local and national holidays.
4. List ALL available positions in order of preference in the application, not just the desired ones. Leaving positions unlisted increases the risk of forced assignment.
5. Submit the application through electronic headquarters or in-person registration. Keep the submission receipt with date and time.
6. Assume that the assigned position will be final and plan accordingly: accommodation search, transfer management, etc. You will not be able to compete for other positions for two years.
