Judicial Assistance Positions Basque Country 2026: Destinations, Deadlines and How to Apply

If you passed the Judicial Assistance Body exam in the extraordinary process called by the Order JUS/1327/2022, of December 28, and you are interested in a position in the Basque Country, the clock is already running. The Order of May 21, 2026 from the Department of Justice and Human Rights of the Basque Government publishes the vacant positions in its territory and opens the application period: 10 business days from June 5, 2026.

Not acting within the deadline does not mean losing your position: it means that the Administration will assign you one forcibly, according to your ranking in the selective process, without being able to choose your destination.

What does this regulation establish?

The Department of Justice and Human Rights of the Basque Country publishes, in compliance with the extraordinary selective process for the Judicial Assistance Body of the Administration of Justice, the list of vacant positions in its territory that are offered to those who passed.

The available positions are distributed in the following municipalities and types of judicial bodies:

The assignment rules are as follows:

• Assignment criterion: ranking obtained in the extraordinary selective process.
• Application: exclusively electronic, using electronic certificates accepted by the Basque Government.
• Deadline: 10 business days from publication in the BOE (from June 5, 2026).
• Irrevocability: once the deadline closes, the submitted application cannot be modified or cancelled.
• Forced assignment: if the applicant does not request sufficient positions or does not submit an application, a destination will be assigned forcibly according to their ranking in the scoring order.
• Permanent nature: the assigned destination is permanent and does not allow participation in transfer requests for the first two years.

Economic and operational impact

For those who passed, the impact is direct and far-reaching: the destination obtained in this process will determine the workplace for a minimum of two years, without the possibility of requesting a transfer. This has relevant economic and personal consequences:

• Relocation costs: if the applicant resides outside the Basque Country or in a municipality different from the one assigned, they must assume the costs of moving and, if applicable, temporary accommodation.
• Guaranteed job stability: the assignment is permanent, which means immediate incorporation into the Judicial Assistance Body with all the remuneration conditions and career development of the body.
• Risk of unwanted assignment: not submitting an application or not including sufficient positions in the request may result in forced assignment to any of the available municipalities (Bilbao, Basauri or Vitoria-Gasteiz), without practical recourse for two years.
• Non-extendable deadline: the regulation does not contemplate extension of the 10 business day period nor the possibility of later modification of the application.

Who does it affect?

• Persons who passed the extraordinary selective process for the Judicial Assistance Body of the Administration of Justice, called by Order JUS/1327/2022, of December 28.
• Applicants who, in the destination selection process, have assigned or can opt for positions in the territorial scope of the Basque Country.
• Applicants who, by their position in the ranking, may be affected by forced assignment in the Basque Country if they do not submit an application.

This regulation does not affect private companies, self-employed persons or other bodies of the Administration of Justice other than the Judicial Assistance Body.

Practical example

Suppose an applicant passed the selective process with a score that places them in an intermediate position in the assignment order. They reside in Bilbao and prefer a destination in that city. When the deadline opens on June 5, 2026, they have 10 business days to submit their electronic application.

If they include in their application only the Bilbao position and this has already been assigned to applicants with higher scores, the Administration will assign them forcibly one of the remaining available positions: Basauri or Vitoria-Gasteiz. Once assigned, they must remain at that destination for a minimum of two years before being able to request a transfer.

The practical recommendation is to include in the application all available positions ordered by preference, to avoid forced assignment and maximize the chances of obtaining a desired destination.

What should those affected do now?

1. Verify if you are included in the process: check that your name appears in the list of those who passed the extraordinary selective process called by Order JUS/1327/2022. Only those who passed in that call can request these positions.
2. Calculate the exact deadline: the 10 business day period begins on June 5, 2026. Identify the exact deadline by excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays in the Basque Country.
3. Obtain an electronic certificate accepted by the Basque Government: the application is exclusively electronic. Make sure you have a valid and operational electronic certificate before starting the process.
4. Prepare the application with all positions ordered by preference: include in your application all available positions (Bilbao, Basauri, Vitoria-Gasteiz) ordered according to your preference, to avoid an unwanted forced assignment.
5. Submit the application before the deadline closes: remember that once the deadline closes, you cannot modify or cancel the submitted application. Do not leave the process for the last day.
6. Plan for possible relocation: if the assigned destination implies a change of residence, keep in mind that the destination is permanent for a minimum of two years without the possibility of transfer requests.
