Judicial Assistance Destinations 2026: deadlines and obligations for candidates approved in 2022

• Approved candidates from the Judicial Assistance Corps in the selection process called by Order JUS/1288/2022: they are the main recipients of the order and must act before the office-taking deadline expires.
• Interim officials currently occupying the positions assigned by this order: their service relationship ends automatically on the day the permanent official takes office.
• Officials belonging to the Case Management and Procedural Processing Bodies who have also passed the Judicial Assistance selection process: they must assess whether to exercise the option to continue in their original body.
• Territorial Managements of the Administration of Justice: must manage communications from officials who choose voluntary leave and coordinate the termination of interim officials.

Practical example

Imagine an opposition candidate who passed the selection process called by Order JUS/1288/2022 and who currently belongs to the Procedural Processing Corps. Order PJC/738/2026 assigns him a destination in a judicial office.

This official has two concrete options:

1. Take office at the assigned destination as a member of the Judicial Assistance Corps, within 20 business days from September 1, 2026. From that moment, he will not be able to request a transfer until July 8, 2028 (two years from the date of the order).
2. Choose to continue active in the Procedural Processing Corps, communicating this to his Territorial Management. In that case, he will enter voluntary leave status in the Judicial Assistance Corps, maintaining his position and remuneration in the original body.

Meanwhile, the interim official occupying the position assigned to this candidate will cease automatically on the same day the permanent official takes office, without any additional procedure required from the interim official beyond handing over the position.

What should those affected do now?

1. Check the assigned destination in Order PJC/738/2026 published in the BOE on July 21, 2026 and verify the corresponding judicial office.
2. Calculate the office-taking deadline: the 20 business days start counting from September 1, 2026. Identify the exact deadline to avoid non-compliance.
3. If you belong to Case Management or Procedural Processing: assess whether it is worthwhile to exercise the option to continue active in your original body and, if so, communicate it to the corresponding Territorial Management before taking office.
4. If you are an interim official in an assigned position: prepare to hand over the position and manage your employment situation in advance, given that termination is automatic on the day the permanent official takes office.
5. Note the transfer restriction: new permanent officials will not be able to participate in transfer competitions until July 8, 2028. Keep this in mind for career planning.
6. Vacant positions: if your position was not assigned, it will be available in future ordinary competitions; consult with the Territorial Management about the expected deadlines.
