UPV Faculty Positions 2026: €31.10 fee and deadline until September 28

What does this regulation establish?

The resolution convenes an open access competition for positions in the university teaching bodies of the UPV: full professors of university and associate professors of university. The legal framework that supports it is the Organic Law of the University System (LOSU) and Royal Decree 678/2023.

The requirements to participate are as follows:

• Be accredited by ANECA for the teaching body to which you are applying (full professor or associate professor).
• Hold a doctoral degree.
• Not have been separated from public service through disciplinary proceedings.
• Candidates who obtained a position in another university in their last competition must have held that position for at least two years before being able to apply again.

The application procedure is exclusively electronic, through the UPV's electronic office, during the period between September 1 and 28, 2026.

Economic and operational impact

The direct cost for the candidate is €31.10 for each position applied for. If an accredited doctor applies for multiple positions simultaneously, the fee is multiplied by the number of positions requested.

However, certain groups are exempt from paying the fee:

• Members of special category large families.
• Victims of gender-based violence.
• Persons with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33%.

From an operational perspective, 100% electronic processing means that the candidate must have a digital certificate or valid electronic identification system to access the UPV's electronic office. There is no possibility of submitting the application in paper format or in person.

The restriction of a minimum of two years in a previous position has a direct impact on the career planning of teachers who have already obtained a position in another university: they cannot apply before this deadline is met, which limits inter-university mobility in the short term.

Who does it affect?

• Doctors with ANECA accreditation for the full professor body seeking a position at the UPV.
• Doctors with ANECA accreditation for the associate professor body seeking a position at the UPV.
• Active university teachers in other universities who wish to transfer to the UPV, provided they have been in their current position for at least two years if they obtained it through competition.
• Researchers and professionals with a doctoral degree who have recently obtained ANECA accreditation and want to access university teaching public service.
• Groups exempt from fees: special large families, victims of gender-based violence, and persons with disability equal to or greater than 33%.

Practical example

A doctor accredited by ANECA as an associate professor decides to apply for three different positions convened by the UPV in this competition. The total cost in fees will be 3 × €31.10 = €93.30. They must submit all applications through the UPV's electronic office before September 28, 2026.

If that same candidate obtained a position in another university in the previous competition only 18 months ago, they will not be able to participate in this call: the regulation requires having held that position for at least two years before applying again.

On the other hand, if the candidate has a recognized disability of 40%, they will be exempt from paying the €31.10 per position, although they must document that condition at the time of application.

What should candidates do now?

1. Verify current ANECA accreditation for the teaching body to which you are applying (full professor or associate professor) before starting the application.
2. Check the two-year requirement if you obtained a position in another university in a previous competition: calculate whether the minimum deadline is met before September 1, 2026.
3. Obtain or renew the digital certificate needed to access the UPV's electronic office with sufficient advance notice before the deadline begins.
4. Prepare the required documentation: doctoral degree, ANECA accreditation, and, if applicable, documentation proving fee exemption (disability certificate, special large family book, or accreditation as a victim of gender-based violence).
5. Submit the application between September 1 and 28, 2026 through the UPV's electronic office and pay the €31.10 fee per position (unless exempt).
6. Keep the submission receipt and the fee payment receipt as proof of participation in the competition.
