Twelve positions that no one was going to fill now go to specialties with real candidates. The Under-Secretary of Defense has modified, through Resolution 430/38317/2026, the distribution of positions in the selection process for the Naval Arsenal Officers Corps, originally called in November 2025. The change is immediate: it comes into force on the same day of its publication, July 11, 2026.

The measure is based on specific basis 2.4 of the call, which allows accumulating unfilled positions to other programs according to the needs of the Ministry of Defense. It is not a new call: it is a redistribution within the selection process already underway.

What does this regulation establish?

The resolution modifies the distribution of positions approved in the original call (Resolution 430/38509/2025, of November 27, 2025). Programs that have not generated enough candidates cede their positions to specialties with greater demand.

Programs that cede positions (vacant):

ProgramPositions ceded
Lathe-Miller1 position
Heater-Plumber8 positions
Electronics3 positions

Programs that receive additional positions:

Benefited programAdditional positions received
Photographer2 positions
Installer-assembler2 positions
Welder-sheet metal worker2 positions
Bookbinding and Printing2 positions
Cabinetmaker-carpenter1 position
Construction-painter1 position
Lathe-miller (disability quota)1 position
Other program (to complete 12)1 position

The redistribution does not alter access conditions, syllabi or selection criteria. It only modifies the number of available positions per specialty within the same selection process.

Economic and operational impact

For the Ministry of Defense, the redistribution ensures that the called positions are filled effectively, preventing vacancies in the Naval Arsenal Officers Corps. From an operational perspective, the impact is twofold:

  • For candidates from benefited specialties: greater probability of passing the selection process by increasing the number of available positions in their program. In specialties such as Photographer, Installer-assembler, Welder-sheet metal worker and Bookbinding and Printing, the offer grows by 2 additional positions each.
  • For candidates from ceding specialties: candidates from Lathe-Miller (general quota), Heater-Plumber and Electronics do not see their chances affected directly, since the ceded positions are precisely those that did not have enough candidates to fill them.
  • For the disability quota: the Lathe-Miller program in disability quota receives 1 additional position, expanding access for candidates with disabilities in this specialty.

The mechanism used—specific basis 2.4—is a common instrument in public employment calls that allows the Ministry to optimize position coverage without needing to call a new selection process.

Who does it affect?

  • Candidates for the Naval Arsenal Officers Corps participating in the selection process called by Resolution 430/38509/2025, of November 27, 2025.
  • Candidates from the programs Photographer, Installer-assembler, Welder-sheet metal worker, Bookbinding and Printing, Cabinetmaker-carpenter and Construction-painter (open access), who see their positions increased.
  • Candidates from the program Lathe-Miller in disability quota, which gains 1 additional position.
  • Military opposition preparation academies and advisors for candidates for public employment in the Defense sector.

Practical example

A candidate who applied to the Welder-sheet metal worker program in the original call from November 2025 now competes for 2 more positions than originally planned. If in their specialty there were, for example, 5 positions called, they now have 7 available. This directly reduces the competition ratio and improves their chances of admission without having to do anything additional: the change operates automatically on the ongoing process.

Similarly, a candidate with a disability who was applying to the Lathe-Miller program in disability quota sees their specific quota offer expanded by 1 position, which can be decisive in a quota where the number of positions is usually limited.

What should candidates do now?

  1. Verify your specialty: check if your program is among the benefited ones (Photographer, Installer-assembler, Welder-sheet metal worker, Bookbinding and Printing, Cabinetmaker-carpenter, Construction-painter or Lathe-Miller in disability quota). If so, you have more positions available.
  2. Consult the official resolution: access the full text of Resolution 430/38317/2026 in the BOE to know the exact number of updated positions in your program.
  3. Maintain your preparation pace: the redistribution does not change the syllabi, exam dates or access requirements. The process continues its normal course.
  4. If you are a candidate for Heater-Plumber, Electronics or Lathe-Miller (general quota): the ceded positions were those that did not have sufficient coverage. Consult with the academy or advisor if your particular situation is affected.
  5. Follow official communications from the Ministry of Defense: any additional changes to the process will be published in the BOE and on the Ministry's website.

Frequently asked questions

What specialties gain positions in the Naval Arsenal Officers opposition 2026?

The benefited programs are Photographer, Installer-assembler, Welder-sheet metal worker and Bookbinding and Printing (2 additional positions each), Cabinetmaker-carpenter and Construction-painter (1 additional position each), and Lathe-Miller in disability quota (1 additional position). In total, 12 positions are redistributed.

Why are positions redistributed in this selection process?

The positions in the Lathe-Miller (1 position), Heater-Plumber (8 positions) and Electronics (3 positions) programs remained vacant, that is, without enough candidates to fill them. Specific basis 2.4 of the call allows the Ministry of Defense to reassign those positions to other specialties with greater expected coverage.

When does the position redistribution come into force?

Resolution 430/38317/2026 was published and came into force on July 11, 2026, with immediate effects on the ongoing selection process called by Resolution 430/38509/2025, of November 27, 2025.

Do the requirements or syllabus change for candidates from the benefited specialties?

No. The redistribution only modifies the number of available positions per program. The access requirements, syllabi, dates and other conditions of the original call remain unchanged.

Where can I check the exact number of updated positions by specialty?

The full text of the redistribution is available in the BOE (Resolution 430/38317/2026). For the complete breakdown by program, you can also consult the original call (Resolution 430/38509/2025, of November 27, 2025).
