• Investment in preparation: those who had already planned their preparation with the previous scale must review the time and resources dedicated to the practical cataloging section.
• Permanent staff in change of legal status: the correction of the syllabus eliminates the confusion generated by the duplicated topic, which simplifies study planning for this group.

Who does it affect?

• Candidates registered in the open competition category of the Faculty Body of Museum Conservators (54 positions).
• Candidates registered in the internal promotion category of the same body (now 29 positions, previously 31).
• Permanent staff workers included in Annex II of the IV Single Agreement for permanent staff workers of the General State Administration who opt for change of legal status.
• Academies and opposition preparation instructors who must update their materials and internal evaluation scales.

Practical example

Imagine a candidate applying for open competition who has planned the practical cataloging exercise with the original scale. With the call from December 2025, they could aim to pass each item by obtaining 1.5 points out of 5, that is, 30% of the maximum score per item.

With the correction published on July 22, 2026, that same candidate now needs to achieve 2.5 points out of 5 per cataloged item, that is, 50% of the maximum score. If their preparation was calibrated for the previous threshold, they risk not meeting the minimum even if they have spent months studying.

For the internal promotion category, the scenario is similar but with the added burden that there are 2 fewer positions (29 instead of 31), which further tightens the competition.

What should candidates do now?

1. Review the updated call: download and read the error correction resolution published on July 22, 2026 to know exactly the changes in positions and scores.
2. Recalibrate practical exercise preparation: adjust your level of demand in the cataloging test to the new minimum of 2.5 points out of 5 per item. Practice with that threshold as reference, not the previous 1.5.
3. Update the syllabus if you opt for change of legal status: verify which topic was duplicated (topic 6/8 of the specific syllabus) and ensure that your study planning does not include that topic twice.
4. Consult with your academy or preparation instructor: if you use external preparation materials, confirm that they have already incorporated the changes from this error correction.
