UNED Prices 2026-2027: how much students will pay and what discounts exist

Students who enroll at UNED from September 1, 2026 onwards will do so under the prices set by Order CNU/573/2026. This regulation establishes the cost per ECTS credit according to the degree type, the knowledge group to which the subject belongs, and whether it is the first, second, third or subsequent enrollment in that same subject. The more times a subject is repeated, the higher the price per credit.

A relevant fact: enabling master's degrees maintain equivalence with average Bachelor's prices, in accordance with the agreement reached in 2021. This represents a significant economic advantage for those pursuing degrees such as the Master's in Access to Law or the Master's in Teacher Training.

What does this regulation establish?

The Order structures UNED public prices around four main variables:

• Type of degree: Bachelor's, Master's, Doctorate and access courses.
• Knowledge group: each subject belongs to a group that determines the base price per ECTS credit.
• Enrollment number: first, second, third or subsequent enrollments in the same subject (more repetitions, higher cost).
• Nationality and residence: do not influence the price. All students pay the same.

Regarding enabling master's degrees, the regulation maintains equivalence with average Bachelor's prices according to the 2021 agreement, which distinguishes them from other university master's degrees.

Applicable discounts and exemptions

The order provides for two levels of discount on the ECTS credit price:

Economic and operational impact

The economic impact of this regulation is direct for students and their families. The key points to keep in mind are:

• The enrollment number is the most relevant cost factor. Repeating a subject can result in a substantial increase in the price per ECTS credit compared to the first enrollment.
• Enabling master's degrees are more economical than other university master's degrees as they are equivalent to average Bachelor's prices.
• 100% discounts mean free enrollment for six different groups, which represents total savings on the cost of enrolled credits.
• Price equality by nationality eliminates any additional cost for foreign students or those residing outside Spain, something that does not occur in all on-campus universities.

For companies and organizations that finance employee training through UNED (bonuses from the State Foundation for Training in Employment), the cost per ECTS credit and the knowledge group of the degree are the data that must be communicated to their training managers to calculate the course budget.

Who does it affect?

• Bachelor's degree students enrolled or planning to enroll at UNED in the 2026-2027 academic year.
• Master's degree students at UNED, especially those in enabling master's programs (Law, Teacher Training, etc.).
• Doctoral students at UNED.
• Persons enrolled in UNED access courses.
• Large families (general or special category) with members enrolled at UNED.
• Persons with recognized disability equal to or greater than 33%.
• Victims of terrorism or gender-based violence.
• Orphans of civil servants who died in the line of duty.
• Beneficiaries of the Minimum Vital Income.
• Companies and HR departments that co-finance university studies for their employees at UNED.

Practical example

Imagine two students who enroll in the same Bachelor's degree at UNED in the 2026-2027 academic year, in subjects from the same knowledge group:

• Student A: this is the first time enrolling in those subjects. They will pay the first enrollment price per ECTS credit, which is the lowest of the four tiers provided.
• Student B: already failed those subjects the previous year. Since it is their second enrollment, the price per ECTS credit will be higher than the first enrollment.

If Student B also has a recognized disability of 40%, the 100% discount completely eliminates the cost of their enrollment, regardless of whether it is the first, second or third time they enroll in those subjects.

On the other hand, a student in the Master's in Access to Law (enabling master's degree) will pay per ECTS credit a price equivalent to the average Bachelor's price, not the standard master's price, which can represent significant savings compared to other university master's degrees.

What should students do now?

1. Verify the knowledge group of the subjects you are going to enroll in, as it determines the base price per ECTS credit.
2. Check the enrollment number of each subject (first, second, third or subsequent) to anticipate the actual cost before formalizing enrollment.
3. Accredit the condition that gives right to discount before the enrollment deadline: disability certificate, large family status, gender-based violence victim resolution, Minimum Vital Income resolution, etc.
4. If you are pursuing an enabling master's degree, confirm with UNED that your degree is included in the 2021 agreement to benefit from the price equivalent to a Bachelor's degree.
5. If your company finances your training, communicate the knowledge group data and enrollment number to the HR department or training manager to calculate the budget and manage possible bonuses from the State Foundation for Training in Employment.
