The European Central Bank (ECB) publishes the euro reference exchange rates against the main currencies every business day, and the Bank of Spain relays them for Spain. These are the rates used as the official reference for accounting, contracts, customs and tax settlements.

Where to check today's rate

The official daily figure is published at around 16:00 CET each business day by the European Central Bank and the Bank of Spain.

The most recent figure is updated automatically every business day after the ECB release.

What they are used for

  • Taxation: converting foreign-currency transactions for VAT, income tax and corporate tax.
  • Customs and foreign trade: valuing imports and exports.
  • Accounting: closing foreign-currency positions.

How often they update

The ECB sets these rates at around 16:00 CET on each business day (not published on weekends or TARGET holidays). This page always shows the latest available value.
