The provisional lists of admitted and excluded candidates for the selection process for entry as fixed-term staff at the Ministry of Interior have now been published. The Resolution of August 27, 2026 from the Under-Secretary starts the clock for candidates: anyone who does not appear on the admitted list or is listed as excluded has a very short deadline to react before the lists become final.

The process is governed by the IV Single Collective Agreement of the General State Administration and covers both open access and internal promotion in professional groups M3, M2, M1, E2 and E1.

Remedy process

Candidates excluded or omitted from the provisional lists can remedy defects through the administracion.gob.es portal during the 10 business days following BOE publication (from September 4, 2026). After that deadline, the final lists will be published on the Ministry of Interior website and the deadline to file an appeal before the Social Courts of Madrid will open.

Requirements on exam day

  • Transparent pen with black or blue ink
  • Valid identification document (DNI, NIE or valid passport)
  • Prohibited from bringing electronic devices

Economic and operational impact

For candidates, the immediate impact is operational: check the provisional list as soon as possible and act within the remedy period if there is any problem. An exclusion not remedied in time is equivalent to being permanently excluded from the process, losing the opportunity to access a fixed-term staff position in the General State Administration.

For HR departments of public bodies and companies that manage job pools or collaborate with the AGE, this resolution sets the operational calendar of the process: exams are distributed between October and December 2026, which may affect planning of substitutions or temporary coverage in specialties such as Medicine, Nursing or Occupational Risk Prevention.

Once the process is resolved and final lists of approved candidates are published, Ministry of Interior bodies will be able to fill vacant positions in groups M3, M2, M1, E2 and E1 with permanent staff, reducing dependence on temporary contracts in technical and healthcare areas.

Who does it affect?

  • Candidates who submitted applications to the selection process called on July 3, 2026: must check their status on the provisional lists.
  • Excluded or omitted candidates: have 10 business days to remedy through administracion.gob.es.
  • Candidates in internal promotion from groups M3, M2, M1, E2 and E1 of the Ministry of Interior.
  • Professionals in Psychology, Nursing, Medicine, Occupational Risk Prevention, Biology, Chemistry and Social Work who applied for a position in the AGE.
  • HR managers at the Ministry of Interior who manage the filling of vacant positions.

Practical example

A candidate for the Nursing specialty who submitted their application in July 2026 accesses the provisional lists published on September 4 and finds that they are listed as excluded due to a defect in the documentation provided. They have 10 business days from that date to access the administracion.gob.es portal, remedy the defect and request inclusion in the final list of admitted candidates.

If they do not act within that deadline, they will be permanently excluded from the process. Once the final lists are published, if they still believe their exclusion is unjustified, they can file an appeal before the Social Courts of Madrid. The first exam of their specialty will be held on one of the dates between October 24 and December 13, 2026, at a venue in Madrid or Ávila as indicated in the resolution.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I check if I am admitted or excluded from the 2026 Interior fixed-term staff civil service exams?

The provisional lists are published in the BOE of September 4, 2026 and on the official Ministry of Interior website. Search for them by your name or NIF in the document corresponding to your specialty and professional group (M3, M2, M1, E2 or E1).

How much time do I have to remedy if I am excluded from the provisional lists?

You have 10 business days counted from September 4, 2026, the date of BOE publication. The remedy is carried out through the administracion.gob.es portal. After that deadline without remedying, the exclusion becomes final.

When and where are the 2026 Ministry of Interior civil service exams held?

The first exam of the opposition phase is held between October 24 and December 13, 2026, at venues located in Madrid and Ávila. The exact date and venue depend on the specialty. Consult the resolution to find the one corresponding to your specialty.

What specialties are called in this Interior selection process?

The specialties called include: Psychology, Nursing, Medicine, Occupational Risk Prevention, Biology, Chemistry and Social Work, among others. The process covers professional groups M3, M2, M1, E2 and E1 under the IV Single Collective Agreement of the AGE.

What can I do if I disagree with my final exclusion from the Interior lists?

Once the final lists are published on the Ministry of Interior website (after the remedy period), you can file an appeal before the Social Courts of Madrid. This option is only available after the lists are final, not during the remedy period.
